This as well as the other poems will be in my book.
A Heart’s Companion
Passionate is the eternal flame…
For but an instant, though it seems forever
I open my eyes and wallow in yours.
How clearly your eyes window me to your soul,
The secret sealed by your lips is told,
Yet deeper still, where your heart ends mine begins.
Entangled we become in its dizzy spins,
Threaded like rope by love,
Enshrouded in mist by desire,
If I am the wick your love is my fire.
We watch together as it flickers and glows,
All while at it’s center a miracle grows:
The warmth which radiates the room,
Filling the atmosphere, a sanctuary, a boon,
to all that is sacred to our heart.
Let it burn eternal like time to beacon our desire,
The essence of heaven somehow ascended higher.
I hope naught can put out this flame.
It etches in my heart a love letter,
spelled with only your name.
